The Piedmont region is a hilly part of Georgia. Piedmont means "foot of the mountain". this region lies between the far northern mountains and the flat southern plains. this region is known for its red clay hills. it is also the region with the most people. we live in this region.

Beginning in the mountain foothills in Georgia goes to the central part of the state. the granite based landform makes up 1/3 of the states land area. About 1/2 of the states population lives in the piedmont region. Most visited region in Georgia.
